The formation and evolution of the Tancheng-Lujiang fault has close spatial-temporal relationship with the Dabie-Sulu UHP-bearing orogen. The tectonic setting of the Tancheng-Lujiang fault is located at the root zone of the collision between north and south China blocks which took place in the Early Permian time. The collision is characterized by the process of large-scale rotation and amalgamation,in which exhumation of the UHP rocks might happen. The deformational record of the late orogeny and/or post-orogeny which was reworked by late Mesozoic deformation in south China presents complicated structural assemblage, among which the strike-slip faulting of the Tancheng-Lujiang fault is considerable. The collisional orogenesis between north and south China blocks and intra-continental deformation finally
led to the formation of the multiple Dabie-Tanlu-Sulu orogen.
