PROBLEMS OF COASTAL RESEARCH ON GLOBAL CHANGE IN CHINA

Abstract

Based on the reviews of current situation and problems of studies on the Land-Ocean Interaction of Coastal Zone(LOICZ)in China which is an important comprise of global change research, it is pointed out that LOICZ study in China should stress on the theme ofLOICZ and emphasize coastal zone that is the interface between land and ocean, rather than guide to study ocean or shelf only. Whenwe devote ourselves to promote LOICZ study in China and participate in the world study program, itmust be combinewith the practice of coastal zone study and nature features of China in order that the superiority of Chinese coastal zone research is developing forward. The author propose that we carry out a new task about studies on the features, process and model of abandon in estuary and delta of China and the impacts on coastal ecology and environmentwill bring a great improvement in Chinese LOICZ research. We also explicate the reason and list the main contents for this study.
