CHARACTERISTICS OF AND ADVANCES IN GLOBAL CHANGE RESEARCH IN THE NETHERLANDS

Dutch government consider global change research as an important research field, encouraging Dutch scientists to contribute to international global change programme such as IGBP and WCRP. Under leadership and coordination of The IGBP/WCRP committee of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), Dutch scientists are active in global change research and play an important role in IGBP and WCRP core projects. The characteristics of global change research in The Netherlands are analyzed and Dutch research advances in nine projects of IGBP and WCRP are summarized in this paper.
