DEVELOPING GRASSLAND AGRICULTURE AND ADVANCING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN WESTERN CHINA

The relationship between human and grassland in China experienced 4 stages and should be developed into an agro-grassland ecosystem in the end, which is the sustainable and mutual beneficial mode between human and nature, and artificial grassland played an important role. According to grassland resource, the structure of pratacultural economy and productive level, 10 provinces, municipalities and cities directly under the jurisdiction of central authorities in western China could be divided into 6 developing areas and they should properly build characteristic agro-grassland ecosystem, meanwhile there could exist extensive system coupling between regions. The authors advise to build up 6 demonstrative projects and 3 productive bases for research.
