Xiaoshan FAN. International Research Review on Blindspots of Ecosystem Services[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2021, 36(6): 616-624.

Ecosystem services have been an important hot research topic in ecology since the 1990s, and at the same time it has been criticized and discredited widely in the international research area of ecology. The criticisms and the skepticisms are rarely mentioned in the domestic research community of ecology. The critical views on ecosystem services were summarized systematically by gathering and analyzing the important international research works that discuss the deficiency of ecosystem services. The specific content such as the insignificance of the concept of ecosystem services, the problems in the technical method system of ecosystem service evaluation, and the difficulties in the practical application of research results of ecosystem service were classified and explained in details. It is helpful to broaden the horizons of domestic researchers on ecosystem services, to avoid common research errors, and to guide innovative research breakthroughs. The review can provide some significant references for improving the domestic scientific research system of environmental protection.
