Is the tectonic setting of South Anhui metamorphic rocks an ancient land or an orogen? This is a focus problemon the tectonics of South China that has been discussed by Chinese and foreign geologists. The previous results of research and related problems are analysed. In the opinion of orogen itwill be a tendency to disintegrate strata in this area.Based on the discovery of Palaeontological fossils,we discuss the progress of research on this orogen at present and related problems that need to be solved in the future and also provide new data for solving the tectonics of South China.
