Based on summarizing representative results on relative sea level rise and its impacts on coastal hazards (including storm surge, coastal erosion, coastal lowland inundation and flooding, salt water intrusion into estuary and aquifer) in the coast of China, this paper emphatieally analyses the difficulty and problems associated with the estimation of relative sea level rise, coastal lowland inundation and exacelbated coastal hazards. Meanswhile, it also puts forward some proposals which shoud be first noted in the next research, these proposals include strengthening accumnlation of related base data, attaching great importance to research on common effects of sea level rise and the other factors, the changes of oceanic hydrology and coastal environment, as well as coast information system (CIS).
