Jianhui LIU, Mei YE, Qingyin HE. Analysis on the Evolution Trend of Geobiology Based on Bibliometrics[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2022, 37(2): 212-220.
Geobiology, as an interdisciplinary subject, was formed by the intersection of life science and earth science. According to analyzing the knowledge flow of multiple disciplines and the evolution of research topics, we try to understand geobiology's formation, development, and evolution trend. Based on the analysis about relations among geobiological groups, the cooperation possibility of the global teams is provided. The analysis of research frontiers and hot spots also provides a reference for future scientific and technological innovations. In the early stage of geobiology, its knowledge was mainly derived from Geosciences. However, in the middle and late stages, it was widely cited by other disciplines, which resulted in apparent academic spillover. The primary inflow disciplines were Environment/Ecology, Plant & Animal Science, Microbiology, Biology & Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology & Genetics. In general, the research topics around geobiology do not have major changes, and astrobiology is projected to be one of the most important research areas in the future. The geobiology research groups from MIT and Harvard University have the most overlapping research directions and the closest cooperation.
