Dissolved and particulate organic carbon was measured during four cruises in Qingdao and adjacent area in August and December 2006, April and October 2007. The concentrations of DOC varied from 1.23 mg/L to 3.15 mg/L,and the average was 1.70 mg/L. The concentrations of POC varied from 0.09 mg/L to 1.04 mg/L,and the average was 0.28 mg/L. Concentrations of DOC and POC were higher in Jiaozhou Bay and coastal areas, and declined toward far sea area. The seasonal variation indicateds that the concentrations of the DOC and POC have the maximal value in summer, and much lower in autumn and spring, and have the lowest value in winter. The ratio of DOC to TOC in the research sea is 86.3±0.8 percent, higher than that in the open sea, which shows the influence of land input. Based on the analysis of ratio of C/N, we found that C/N value of POC in offing can not reflect the origin of POC, especially in the offing water.
