Mineral resource prediction and evaluation need comprehensive analysis with a variety of data such as geophysical data, geochemical data, aeromagnetic method data, remote sensing images, geological information and field surveying data to determine the drilling holes for further investigation. Geographic information system can be a platform to manage all kinds of mineral resource data for mineral prediction and evaluation. In this paper, a distributed multi-dimensional GIS data management model for multi-source, multi-temporal and multi-scale mineral resource exploration data analysis and visualization is proposed. Firstly, features of mineral resource data are analyzed. A multi-dimensional GIS model with unique geo-reference  is proposed for mineral resources data management. Secondly, a data processing strategy for multi-source mineral resources evaluation data is presented for different types of data. A global tile-pyramid model of raster image data and terrain data is designed to achieve huge volume raster data storage and index. Thirdly, the architecture of distributed multi-dimensional GIS-based mineral resource evaluation data management system is designed. A performance improvement plan based on server and client double cache is proposed. Finally, a typical mineral resource evaluation data management with the proposed method is developed, which can achieve up to 40 types  of  data management and visualization such as two dimensional data, three dimensional data, documents, multimedia and other mineral resources which. It can be used for mineral resource exploration and evaluation of a distributed global collaboration office.
