In recent years, the study of stratospheric processes has been one of the main hot topics in atmospheric community for various research and applications, such as global climate change, ozone hole and recovery of global ozone layer, extended forecasting of disastrous weather and climate events, high-tech activities in near space. In this paper, we will briefly review the frontier and significance of stratospheric process study, and suggest strengthening stratospheric study in China.
