Based on the introduction of seventh international hydrological science assembly, the advances in international hydrological science research in recent four years have summed up in the paper. These advances include the prediction in ungauged basins, uncertainty, nonlinearity and scaling, eco-hydrology, hydrological model and its data collection and parameter estimation, hydrologic impacts of climatic variability and change, sustainable utilization of water resources, urban hydrology and water resources, applications of isotope tracers and remote sensing techniques. The prospects of future hydrology research have been put forward in the end of the paper.
