The karst ecosystem isa fragile ecosystem . Ba sed on the analysis of the type and number of soil microorganisms , activities of soil enzymes , and plant com m unity structure and its diversi ty in typical karst ecosys-tems , the m ain biologically m icrocosm ic and m acros copical indexes , such as soil microorganisms , soilenzymes ,plant com m unity structure and its diversity , are putforward in the lightofbiologicalappr oach ofecologicalrestora-tion to evaluate scientifically the fragilit y ofkarst ecosystem of Southwest China. Moreo ver , som e reasonable m eas-ures on the harnessing ofkarst eco- environm e ntwere putforward based on the characteristi cs offragile karst ecosys-
tem in Southwest China.
