By precipitation data of 42 Gansu stations of loess plateau in March to July from 1961 to 2000 year and the soil weight information of moisture content at 11 agricultural meteorology stations from build station to 2000 year in March to November. Time distribution feature and the region of the Gansu soil moisture of loess plateau were analyzed. Show as a result:(1) The Gansu soil moisture of loess plateau decreases from southwest to northeast, central part has a dry tongue from north to south, arid center locate in Central part of Long north. (2) The soil moisture change of Gansu loess plateau has 7 districts: Soil serious short of water district in east of Long, Central part of Long, Soil seasoning short of water district in east of Long, Central part of Long, Soil moisture suitable district, Soil moisture moist district and Ganlan highland soil moisture moist district. (3) In soil serious short of water district in east of Long, Central section of Long, Shallowlayer soil serious short of water mainly appearance in spring, late spring and early summer, deep layer soil is also short of water state in all the year; In soil seasoning short of water district, shallowlayer short of water is in May and June mainly, deep layer soil moisture in east of Long is higher than Central section of Long.
