TAO Mingxin. THE PROPERTIES, DIVISIONS AND OIL-GAS-FORMING -SPECIALIZATION OF THE TECTONIC ENVIRONMENT OF CHINESE OIL-GAS-BEARING AREAS[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2001, 16(6): 746-754.

Huge oil-gas-bearing areas with marine and paralic facies, such as North China, Yangtze and Tarim landmass(basin), had been formed in China during pre-Mesozoic and the tectonic framework presented north-south differentiation. The united continental plate of China was formed by HercynianIndonesian movements and its tectonic framework evolved to east-west differentiation;Based on the features of tectonics, style of structural deformation, magma activity, geothermal field, crust-mantle structure and so on, the tectonic environment properties and oil-gas bearing characteristics of Mesozoic and Cenozoic Chinese oil-gas-bearing areas (basins) are systematically discussed in this paper. There are four kinds of oil-gas-bearing area, different in tectonic environment, have been formed since the Indonesian movement.(1) The extensional region of rift in east China, it can be divided into two subte ctonic regions. The Cathaysian rift system in the west, in which the Eogene and Cretaceous crude oil is mainly produced. The continental shelf rift system in the east, in which the most important gas-source strata are the Tertiary coal deposits.(2) The tectonically stable craton region in central China, in which the Palaeozoic gas is chiefly formed.(3) The region of tectonic inversion in northwestern China, where there are different types of source layer systems and oil/gas.(4) The collided-slipped region of Tethys, it has complicated structural deformation and potential for oil-gas exploration in part of the region. The author has also put forward the idea of oil-gas-forming specialization of tectonic environment.
