The Proterozoic ophiolite research has achieved gigantic progress in the recent two decades.Some critical problems such as preservation,diversity,high-pressure metamorphism,geochronology and methodology for the Proterozoic ophiolite need to be further explored. The Proterozoic ophiolite has diversity characteristics in time-space distribution ,type of end-members, metamorphism, geotectonic setting and constraint of magmatic reservior. The high-ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rock that its primitive rock is the Proterozoic ophiolite may be another preservation form of the Proterozoic ophiolite.The discrimination of the Proterozoic ophiolite must be on the basis of systematical study for tectonic mapping, isotopic geochronology and geological-geochemical characteristics. Therefore, the Proterozoic ophiolite research in China should strengthen the synthetical study of tectonic mapping-petrographic analysis,and acquires the dependable information about ophiolite genesis through isotopic dating and geochemical study.The geochemical particularity of Proterozoic oceanic crust and influence of later stage deformation-metamorphism have evident constraint for the formation and evolution of the Proterozoic ophiolite,so we can not apply the discriminative figures and research methods about Phanerozoic ophiolite mechanically to the study of the Proterozoic ophiolite.
