YIN Shoupeng, WANG Guiwen. A SUMMARY OF SEDIMENTOLOGY FROM WELL LOGS[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1999, 14(5): 440-445.
Based on the materials of sedimentology from well logs at home and abroad, this paper, combined with the author' s experience, gives a systematic generalization on the newly developed geologic discipline-sedimentology from well logs. It includes the fundamental concepts, research methods and scope, computer skills and mathematical methods and their applications in the interpretation of well logging materials. Sedimentology from well logs takes deductive and inductive approach, establishing the interpretation models between sedimentology and well logging materials, quantifying the sedimentary characteristics so as to be processed and predicted easily. Hence, advanced mathematical methods and computer technology have played a very important role in the study of sedimentology. Finally, this paper presents the trends and developments of sedimentology from well logs.
