In terms of understanding on the Earth System Science and the Land System Science, the viewpoint of“Land System Science is the advance of Geography”is presented in this paper. The objective,strong strategic emphasis, methodology of the Land System Science was also discussed. The author concluded that the Land System Science is the new umbrella of Geography in 21st century, but it is just in the starting period. It' s very important for pushing the development of the Land System Science to learn about from Global Change Study with setting up an inter-project which focus on regional sustainable development.
