Li Renwei. STUDY OF CARBON CYCLE DURING GEOLOGICAL HISTORY[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1996, 11(1): 35-39.
Carbon cycle,to a first approximation, can be considered a balance between the carbon in the sedimentary carbonate reservoir and the organic matter reservoir. Study of carbon cycle is related directly to reconstruction of the history of evolution of paleo-atmosphere,paleooceanography,paleoclimate and paleoenvironment of the Earth, and has a great help to understanding the formation of sedimentary ore deposits. So far, study of the Phanerozoic and the latest Proterozoic carbon cycle has been in rapid progress. However, study of the whole Proterozoic and Archaen carbon cycle is weak. It is expected that carbon cycle during the earlier history of the Earth will be a major subject in the future geoscience. The Proterozoic strata in China are suitable to study of carbon cycle and therefore relative works should be carried out in this research area.
