Wang Weiming. PACIFIC NEOGENE EVENTS IN TIME AND SPACE-MAIN RESULTS AND ENLIGHTENMENT OF IGCP246[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1995, 10(6): 562-566.
The IGCP246 project focuses on the evaluation of major Neogene events in the circum-Pacific region. This paper synthesizes its main results, including 1) the mid-Neogene climatic optimum; 2) cooling of sea water and upwelling events; 3)major biologic evolutions, and 4) tectonism and there lated palaeobiogeography. The causes and consequences of these events and their interrelationships are emphasized. Also discussed is its enlightenment of IGCP246.
