Advancement of marine sedimentology in Nansha sea area,which include aspects of modern sedimentation,sedimentary chemistry,stratigraphy,reef carbonate geology,paleocenography and global change,are indicated and comented. The research of moderm sedimentation involved shelf deposite, coral growth, biogenic and gravity flow sedimentation. The following reports the development of element and isotope geochemistry of sediments, late quaternary stratigraphic sequences and reef carbonate faces and model. The last part of this paper introduces general development of late quaternary paleoceanography and global change. These results promote the understand of monsoon climate.
