A series of geoscientific results on Antarctica have been made by the Chinese geoscientists since 1991. The main results and progresses are as follows: (1)Compilation of the Geologic Map of Antarctica on the scale of 1?5000000 has been completed. (2)The regional stratigraphic division and the concept regarding the tectonic framework of the Bransfield Strait area are revised on the basis of the recent geological and geophysical investigation. (3)The geological implication of the "Pan-African tectono-thermal event" in the region of the Larsemann Hills, East Antarctica is clarified. (4)A rare mineral named as grandidierite was first discovered on Antarctica.(5)Further research was conducted on the volcano-stratigraphy of Fildes Peninsula and on the Weaddellian continental biogeographic province. (6)A primary survey of the crust structure by means of the telluric electromagnetic sounding was made in the area of the Great Wall Station and a GPS satellite-monitoring net of the crustal deformation in the region of Fildes Peninsula has been established. (7)Small-frame aerial topographic mapping and digital cartography of satellite-image for Larsemann Hills, East Antarctica have been successfully implemented. (8)The petrologic and compositional evidences for early continuous chemical fractionation of the solar nebula are further clarified.
