Yun Caixing. PROGRESS IN AND PROSPECT OF MARINE REMOTE SENSING[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1993, 8(1): 14-20.

As part of the activities in the International Space Year, the present paper gives a brief state of the art introduction of marine remote sensing technology and its developing tendency from a viewpoint of the archievements in spatial marine sciences. It will also enumerate the main archievements attained in the satellite and airplane remote sensing application fields since the first American marine satellite was launched in 1978. It will be seen that the marine remote sensing is becoming a effective and newly developed investigating method for the exploitation of marine resources, the observation of the change
of global enviroriment, the protect of marine rights and intrests, the management and projection of coastal zone and so on·The basic application researches should lay emphasis on the microwave remote sensing, on the abstracion of information from the imaging spectrometry and on the setting up of the information system of marine remote sensing in 1990's following successive launches of radar satellites in many countries.
