Centered on the 14th Soil Congress(ISSS), the author interprets the newest progresses made in aspects of international soil classification, soil survey and mapping,  soil and terrain digital database, soil geography of East Asia and global soil changes, and based on them indicates that internal research work which will be placed under the final consideration of global soil changes should be enhanced on Chinese Soil Taxonomic Classification, soil and land digital database at scale of 1:1 million and soil geographic information system, so as to keep soils from degradation and to have our agriculture develop sustainable.
