This paper briefs the content and significance of biomineralogy and divides early enlightment, skeletal mineral, biomineralization and biomineral four developing stages. In these stages, author intro-ducs the well -known scholars, representive documents, biomineralined theories, international symposiums , research methods and centres; point out the developing trends of biomineralogy : from carbonates and phosphates to oxides and sulphides; from outside characters to inside characters of biomineral, from animal to plant and microorganism, from identificatinon of struture and mineral to exploraton of mineralized mechanism and process. At last, author suggests the developing direction in analytic,genrtic,crystal,fossil,rock(ore)-forming,physiologic,medical,environmental and material aspects of biomineralogy.
Key words: biomineralogy; developing stages; developing direction
