摘要

简要回顾了地球系统科学从20世纪80年代作为人类迎接全球环境问题的挑战而提出的集成研究方法、到逐步成长为一门新兴学科的发展历程,系统阐述了地球系统科学的研究目标、研究对象、研究方法及所关注的科学问题。地球系统科学是一门连接地球科学、生命科学、计算机和对地观测技术以及其它相关科学的一门新兴的交叉学科。由于它所针对的特定的全球性环境问题,关系到社会的可持续发展和人类的切身利益,因此,它也是一门有极强生命力的科学。

Abstract

The earth system science that was put forward as an integrating method to meet the challenge of global environmental issues in the 80's and that has gradually become a new rising discipline recently is described in this paper. The objectives, the research target, methodology as well as the scientific issues are also described. The earth system science is a trans-discipline that links with the earth science, life science, computer science and space observation of the Earth as well as other related disciplines. It is also a discipline with great vitality due to its concern of the special global environmental issues which are closely related to sustainable development of society and human benefits.
