摘要

城市是现代社会政治、经济和生活的重心，随着世界经济一体化的进一步加剧，国内外城市化的进程迅速发展。我国在面临 WTO挑战的同时，必将面对我国城市机体迅速扩大所产生的各类与地学研究有关的问题。城市地球物理学在这样的背景下应运而生。主要论述城市地球物理学这一新兴学科的发生与发展、城市地球物理学重要的社会价值、关键的科学问题、主要的研究方法、当前的研究内容以及与城市地球物理学发展有关的问题，希望得到社会各界和有关部门的关注。

Abstract

Urbanization, especially in developing countries, is a trend along with the growth of world economic. A new discipline—urban geophysics makes its appearance under this background. The importance, key scientific problems, major research methods and the scope of recent study of the new discipline is discussed in this paper.
