The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1988 to assess the professional literature related to climate change and to provide scientific advice related to the negotiation and implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The IPCC has three working groups to assess the functioning of the climate system, the potential impacts, adaptation and mitigation measures, and the economic implications of climate change, respectively. To date, the IPCC has produced the 1990 Assessment Report and a 1992 Supplement. Currently, the process is underway to prepare the Sceond Assessment Report(SAR), scheduled for completion in late 1995. Hundreds of scientists, 13 of them from China, as lead authors are making contributions in the process. This paper briefly introduce the main contents of Chaprer II.13Agriculture Impacts and Adaptation based on the draft version in march 1995, from which we can understand the newest progress in this area both the World and China.
