Geography in China has achieved a great progress since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, and now is facing a series of challenges and important tasks when entering the 21st century. The rapid development of economy and society has being intensively changed the natural and social-economic structures of China. Harmonizing of the relationship between human and nature and sustainable development of whole country and various regions become the most important tasks that facing geography in China. Geography is an important supporting discipline for fulfilling those national subjects and shoulders the responsibility without shirking, meanwhile has a broad space for developing.
