Over the past two and half decades, the scientific achievements of DSDP/ODP have been leading to the birth of newly-emerged global geology, which,in turn with its rapid advances including sequence stratigraphy and basin modeling, promotes greatly the refinements of petroleum exploration in both theory and practice. The studies on the global event reveals that the world's hydrocarbon resouces are controlled by the oceanic annoxic events that happened during the mid-Cretaceous epoch.
