XIAO Xiantao;SUN Chengquan. A BIBLIOMETRICAL ANALYSIS OF STATUS AND TRENDS OF THE INTERNATIONAL EARTH SCIENCE STUDIS[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2005, 20(4): 467-476.

By using some authoritative databases such as SCI、ESI(Essential Sciences Indicators)、GEOREF, the paper makes a bibliometrical analysis of status and trends of the international earth science studies, including analysis of major research countries, major subjects, major research institutions and major scientists through paper output statistics. Analysis is also made of major research fields and international influence in earth sciences in China by paper number, citations, citation per paper and number of top 1% highly cited papers. papers Results show that, between 1993-2003, the number of international papers in environmental science and ecology are increasing very rapidly and has a heavy proportion, but the proportion in China is on the low side. The number of paper in Environmental geology has a big proportion in the world, but in China it's relatively small. Major research fields in geosciences in China focus on geochemistry, geology of metal deposits and energy resources.
