Geochemical Characteristics such as range, distribution and transformation of selenium in soils and organisms were measured with the study of rich selenium soils in the East of Qinghai Province. The results indicated the range of soil selenium was controlled by Xining Group, Paleogene System. The soils were alkaline at a rich Se level. Selenium with a valence of six was high in total selenium proportion. The content of available selenium was fairly rich, which had the advantage of being absorbed by plants, animals and human bodies. Some crops such as garlic, wheat, canola, pasture, have the strong absorptive ability of selenium. Both the human hair and farm animal hair and feather, from the district of seleniumrich soil, contain higher selenium. This result has important guidance purpose to the reasonable development of rich selenium soils in this area.
