It is the important objective of the core project "Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems (GCTE) "of International Geosphere-Biosphere Project (IGBP)to predict the feedback of terrestrial ecosystems on atmosphere and climate and the responses of the structure and function of ecosystems, natural and managed,to global change in different scales. The advance of the project "Modeling responses of Chinese terrestrial ecosystems to global change" is presented in this paper, mainly including plant ecophysiological responses to global change, modeling responses of plant community to global change and climate-vegetation interaction, remote sensing modeling of responses of biomes to global change, and predicting responses of ecosystems to global climate change. In addition, interplans and some research areas of global change and terrestrial ecosystems are also emphasized in this paper.
