Linear sand ridges, occurring extensively on continental shelves, have been studied all over the world because of their great significance in exploration of oil and gas, shipping, and construction of coastal and marine engineering, et al. Introduces six kinds of mechanism of formation and maintenance of linear sand ridges which are well known abroad, and simply analyses the formation mechanism of those linear sand ridges in eastern Bohai Sea.
