YANG bao,SHI Yafeng. RESEARCH ADAVNCES OF ICE CORE RECORDS IN QINGHAI-TIBET PLATEAU[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1999, 14(2): 183-188.

As a robust tool of reconstructing palaeo-climate and palaeo-enviroment,study on ice cores ofQinghai-Tibet Plateau has obtained striking achievements in recentyears. This paper has in detail analyzed and discussed stable oxygen isotope, glacial accumulation, the dating technique of ice core and environmental indices recorded in ice core.Based on the discussions above, the research results of climatic and environmental changes restored by the ice ore records has been summarized, such as reconstructed climatic and environmental series at different time scale(including the Little Ice Age,millennial scale,1 000-year-scale series),consistences and similarities in climatic change between ice core records and other areas aswell as the discoveryof climatewarming in the 20th century. In addition, current problems and developmental tendencies of ice core study in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau have been suggested. As stated below:(1)More robust functional relationship between stable oxygen isotope and temperature will be perfected;(2)Comparison and analysis of ice core records in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with those of its surrounding areas and even North Hemisphere at different time scale and defferent resolution are playing an important role in studying climatic variations.(3)Contents and scope on ice core research on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are to develop and extend.(4)Determination of greenhouse gases and rare gases closed in ice core bubbles tend to be an important aspect in ice core study.(5)Research on stage, abrupt change and mechanism of climatic and environmental evolution will be strengthened.
