Organic matter in ore deposits (OMOD) acts as an important indicator of ore genesis. This paper deals with(1) the characteristics of OMOD with respect to time and lithology of reserivors and type, abundance, source, maturity of OMOD;(2)grade 3 classification based on the end members of kerogen, bitumen and solid carbon;and (3) reviews on prevalent analytical methods such as molecular organic geochemistry, organic petrology, physical chemical method, stable isotope, thermodynamic equilibrium calculation, and model experiments on organic metal interactions.
