SHEN Ming-jie, XIE Zhi-ren, ZHU Cheng. CHARACTERISTICS OF SEA-LEVEL FLUCTUATIONS SINCE HOLOCENE IN THE REGIONS OF EASTERN CHINA[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2002, 17(6): 886-894.

Sea-level changes have now become one of the hot issues in the current research of international global changes. And it has close relationships with human activities, including living, manufacturing and economic growth. Therefore the problem of sea-level changes, especially sea-level fluctuating during the Holocene is being always attached high importance by the academic circles and all governments. Some experts and investigators have done quite a few researches on the sea-level changes in China for a long time, adopting many means of age menstruating and biometrics, employing a lot of new techniques, and establishing the curves patterns of sea-level changes in the territorial regions or countrywide. They generally suggested that there are many fluctuations in sea-level changes since Holocene in the eastern China, but the general trend is unanimous on the whole. But among the fluctuations, the little ones are quite confusing and controversial. People have not come to an agreement on the frequencies, amounts, times and extents of these little fluctuations, and also some discrepancies still exist in many related problems.
To make further study about the sea-level changes trend in the study region aiming to reach a possible agreement, a large amount of data about sea-level changes in the regions of eastern China since Holocene including 12 original sea-level change curves and more than 600 sea-level indicators are collected. Then resettle these original data follow some methods like doing some statistic and digital calculation on a scale of 250 years during the past 10 ka. Rearrangement and systematic statistic analyses are made on the recollected data by Origin software. And comparison study is made on little-scale sea-level fluctuations in the regions of eastern China through building of databank, obtaining a series of fresh characteristics of sea-level fluctuations since Holocene in the regions of eastern China. In so doing, synthetic sea-level curves and temporal sequence with time since Holocene in the regions of eastern China is successfully constructed. 
Study results suggest that sea-level takes on the characteristics of persisting rise and fluctuating that is: 6 500 a BP, serves as demarcation of two fluctuation sequences. Sea-level rises quickly before 6 500 a BP, after 6 500 a BP, however, sea-level fluctuates frequently accompanying with small fluctuation ranges, but the general trend is characterized by slight rise in fluctuation. General speaking, sea-level changes in regions of eastern China since Holocene underwent 9 periods of sea-level fluctuations.
