The three experiments of the flood mornitoring and assessment using remote sensing technology during the period from 1991 to 1995 are reviewed, and the results of the experiments are summaried.Based on the analysis of Chinese national conditions, authors present a tentative plan, which is to build up a low cost, implemental and available operation system to satisfy the request of real-time mornitoring and fast-turnaround evaluation of flood damage with more effective space-born remote sensing application.
