Weng Jintao. THE EFFECT OF CARBONATE ROCKS ON GLOBAL CARBON CYCLE[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1995, 10(2): 154-158.

Regard carbonate rocks as major principal carbon storage in the Earth, not only took decisive effect for global carbon cycle and living evolution during geological history, but also take important effect for global carbon cycle and climatic change due to the corrosion and the sediment of carbonate rocks at present yet. Therefore, must be put a high value on geochemical kinetics study of karst process when carry into practice "IGBP".
In the first place, carbon storage volume of global carbonate rocks must be afresh calculated according to the area, thickness and composition of carbonate rocks during geological history by the use of data bank of global sedimentary rock and carbonate rock.
Secondly, kinetic contribution for global carbon cycle in karst process of carbonate rocks must bring to attention. On the one hand, the corrosion of carbonate rocks not only is affecting on supply volume of CaCO3 and the balance of carbon flux in the ocean, but also direct retrieves CO2 from the atmosphere; On the other hand ,CO2 is released toward atmosphere due to the deposition of calcareous tufa, which will be affecting variations of greenhouse gas. So that they make up a term not to be ignored relationship between source and converge of atmospheric greenhouse gas.
