Dong Wenjie,Tang Maocang,Hui Xiaoying. AN INTRODUCTION TO A NEW VIEWPOINT ON SOLAR-TERRESTRIAL RELATIONS[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1994, 9(4): 84-90.

The new chain of causes and effects on solar-terrestrial relations provided by G. P. Gregori has been introduced in this paper. The chain is given as folows: Sun=>solar wind (plus lunar tidal pull) =>electromagnetic induction within the mantle=> dynamo's electric currents=>Jaule's heating=>volcanoes (plus, maybe, geothermal heat flow) =>injection into the atmosphere of water and of other minor atmospheric constituents=>climate. After a careful introduction to the background, the demonstration and application is presented, some views related to solar-terrestrial relations put forward by the Chinese scholars is interpreted. Then a comparision between the former and the latter is made. Finally, some ideas about solar-terrestrial relations study is discussed and some problems urgently to be solved is pointed out.
