Ren Guoyu. A SUGGESTION FOR THE STUDY OF PAGES IN CHINA[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1994, 9(4): 78-83.

    PAGES is one of the core projects of IGBP. China has an advantage in studying the past environmental changes due to a wealth of natural archives and historical records. Major recommendations are given in the present paper,focusing on the following questions:
    1. Environmental change of East Asia since 130 ka BP;
    2. Climate and environmental changes of China in the past 2000 years;
    3. Climate change of china in the last 2000 years;
    4. Interaction between human activities and environment;
    5. Mapping of the palaeo-data at selected time slices;
    6. Model experiments to test the role of various forcing mechanisms in the past changes on different time scales.
    Priority has been noted for each question mentioned above based on the proxy sources and the traditional research fields.
