Li Fengrui,Liu Jiliang. Hydraulic Redistribution and Its Eco-hydrological Effects in Root-soil Interfacial Systems in Arid Regions[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2008, 23(7): 698-706.

It is increasingly recognized that hydraulic redistribution process in roo-soil interfacial systems is an important component of belowground eco-processes in water-limited arid and semiarid ecosystems. The hydraulic redistribution has been known to play a potential role in regulating soil water distribution and ecosystem water cycling, influencing ecosystem carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycling and nutrient equilibrium. Therefore, further integrated experimental researches are crucial for improving our understanding of the eco-hydrological effects of hydraulic redistribution process in root-soil interfacial systems in water-limited ecosystems. This paper gives an overview of advances in the study of hydraulic redistribution and its potential ecophysiological implications performed over the last 30 years at home and abroad, and provides a list of the potential questions that remain largely unknown and are required to pay much more attention in this regard.
