Environmental impacts of acid mine drainage(AMD) is one of the most serious problem associated with both working and abandoned mining operations. This paper describes the occurrence of AMD, their environmental impacts, options about AMD control, and the available treatment methods. There are two options available for AMD control in the current papers . The source control is used for preventing the formation or the migration of AMD from its source. The migration control is applied to neutralize AMD and remove metals from solution. The treatment methods of AMD include “active” or “passive” ones. For the AMD treatment strategies, either chemical or biological mechanism is available to the abiotic or bioremediative strategies
