This paper summarized the Overview Volume of the Study on the Meteorological Development Strategy in China, which put forward the strategic philosophies of sticking to the public meteorological service, enhancing the capacity in provision of meteorological information for ensuring national securities and exploring meteorological resources in support of sustainable development. The above mentioned philosophies and related strategic goals and tasks as well as key projects and options were proposed based on in-depth analysis of the status of the chinese meteorological service, national demands as well as the latest development and future evolution of science and technology in the world.
