Lu Riyu,Fu Yuanhai. Summer Climate Variability in East Asia and the Western North Pacific and Its Mechanisms[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 2009, 24(2): 123-131.

There is close relationship between East Asian and the western North Pacific summer climate anomalies, which is characterized by the strong tropical-extratropical interaction. Because of the crucial impacts of this tropical-extratropical interaction on the East Asian summer climate anomalies, various studies have been carried out in the past two decades. The contents of these studies include the 3-dimensional spatial features, the formation/maintenance mechanisms of the tropical-extratropical interaction, and the relationship between this interaction and the teleconnection patterns over the Eurasian continent or tropical sea surface temperatures. This review explores these issues, focusing on the most recent results in the past one decade, and deal with some aspects that need to be further investigated in the future.
