Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics(GLOBEC) is an important part of the global changes and marine sustainable studies. It is one of the most active front fields of the international marine sciences research. This paper presents study progress and development direction of ecosystem dynamics in the Chinese coastal ocean based on the project titled “Ecosystem Dynamics and Sustainable Utilization of Living Resources in the East China Sea and Yellow Sea(1999-2004)” of National Basic Key Research Program(973 program).
