This review has described the models dealing with marine ecosystem: process model to define the rate expression or parameters, individual model to calculate individual budget and growth, population model to simulate population dynamics, metapopulation model to simulate interactions between species and ecosystem model to study the whole ecosystem. The highlight of the ecosystem dynamics study on ecological responses to the global change was also discussed. The ecosystem dynamics study in China was summarized and the related problems were presented.
