Qu Shaohou. MAIN CHARACTERISTICS AND TRENDS IN GLOBAL OZONE LAYER[J]. Advances in Earth Science, 1994, 9(5): 39-47.

On the basis of the total ozone and the ozone profile from global ground stations and satellite data (TOMS, SAGE I and SAGE B), this paper gives main characteristics and trends in the stratospheric ozone over the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere especially the Antarctica. The results show that from the 1970's the trends of the total ozone were decreased either over mid-latitude and low-latitude areas or over high-latitude areas, especially in the 10 odd years it has been an apparent downward trend. This trends have caused much attention from the scientists and politicians throughout the world. Besides, in the paper some interpretations on the trend or the total ozone are reviewed.
