This paper is to highlight of the advances on the following topics: the large-scale circulation of the Mei-Yu front; the subsynoptic and mesoscale features of the Mei-Yu front; the development of the low-level jet associated with the Mei-Yu front; the development of the heavy rainfall associated with the Mei-Yu front. In the paper, somepoints of view to the development of the low-level jet and the heavy rainfall have been reviewed and new points of view have been put forward.
