The thermal historis of sedimentary basins and their effect on organic maturation are topics of active study .This paper discussed about advances on thermal histories of sedimentary basins, including new methods for paleogeothermal research, thermal history types and thermal history reconstruction of sedimentary basins.  Author donsider that thermal history reconstruction should pay attention to transformation of later stage geothermal field on earlier stage geothermal field.
